New Website Updates:
I am 18 years old and currently live in Raleigh, North Carolina. However my father has opened
the ACE Hardware of Lake Gaston. We commute to the lake almost every weekend and I have really come to love fishing. Within the ACE store
we provide a large amount of bait & tackle for all your fishing needs. This section is where I will do
most of my work. As a part of the bait & tackle section, I have created this site to provide information about fishing
on the lake.
We have a house on Lizard Creek and I have done a lot of bass and catfishing
over the past 5 years. I haved fished all over the country including 2 trips to Alaska
in 2003 and 2006. I have also fished in over 20 tournaments on the lake in just the past 2 years and have over
20 planned for 2009 across the east coast. On this site I will provide information about fishing on Gaston and provide
news and events going on around the lake.

Postspawn Pattern
As the water is moving into the mid to upper 70s, the bass are moving out of their
spawning patterns and starting the post spawn. While many bass can be found around shore grass in shallow pockets, many
are moving out to points and ledges of flats close to deep water. Most main lake points at the front of major spawning
coves tend to hold bass as well as secondary points within creeks. A key to catching bass this time of year is to throw
colors that imitate a shad. As the shad are currently spawning, the bass will be gorging on those shad for most of their
meals. If you see a bunch of shad surfacing but no bass, they are most likely there just not showing themselves.
Shad love to spawn around rock and rip-rap and that can be another key area to catching fish during the postspawn. For
full product details and information, stop by the ACE and ask for Paul, I will be glad to help.
